Job Summary
The Development Product Owner serves as the bridge between the business and the development team, ensuring that product vision and goals are translated into actionable user stories and technical requirements. This role is responsible for maximizing the value of the development team s work by managing the product backlog, defining priorities, and ensuring clear communication across stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Strategy & Roadmap
Collaborate with stakeholders to define and refine the product vision, strategy, and goals.
Translate business objectives into a prioritized product roadmap.
Ensure alignment between product roadmap and technical feasibility.
2. Backlog Management
Own and maintain the product backlog, ensuring it is visible, transparent, and clearly understood.
Write clear, actionable user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria.
Prioritize backlog items based on business value, risk, and technical dependencies.
3. Development Collaboration
Work closely with the development team to clarify requirements and ensure understanding of user needs.
Participate in sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
Make decisions quickly to unblock development progress when questions or trade-offs arise.
4. Stakeholder Communication
Act as the main point of contact between stakeholders and the development team.
Communicate product progress, upcoming features, and project risks effectively.
Gather and analyze feedback to drive continuous improvement.
5. Quality & Delivery
Validate that delivered features meet business and technical expectations.
Collaborate with QA to ensure thorough testing of new functionality.
Monitor product performance metrics and user feedback post-launch.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field.
8+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role in software development.
Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Proven ability to write detailed user stories and acceptance criteria.
Excellent communication, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
Experience working with Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar backlog management tools.
Background in software development or technical project management.
Experience in [specific domain, e.g., fintech, healthcare, SaaS, etc.].
Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or similar Agile certification.
