Overview

Job Purpose

The Storage Engineer is responsible for supporting and maintaining availability and high-performance of all disk storage and SAN switch non-production, and production environments. This individual works as part of a results-oriented, service-delivery team and supports other storage engineering and operations teams. Additionally, the Storage Administrator participates in root cause analysis of problems, identifies areas for process improvement, remediates issues, and executes tasks to deliver on project-based initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Provide L2 support for all disk storage related issues across the enterprise
  • Respond to and assist in production operations in a 24/7 environment
  • Provide support to, and coordinate with internal users, operations staff, and vendor resources for root cause on issue
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours support based on escalations
  • Provide technical analysis, resolve problems, and propose solutions
  • Participate as a resource for project driven initiatives
  • Identification and automation of manual tasks using scripting and application development

Knowledge and Experience
  • Mid-level experience with a variety of disk storage subsystems and SAN switches including Hitachi, Isilon, Nimble, NetApp, Qumulo and Brocade.
  • Scripting, Automation and Ansible background desireable
  • Deep understanding of SCSI, NFS and CIFS protocols
  • Disk Storage configuration management experience
  • Hands on experience with storage-based replication technologies
  • Automation tools
  • Good English speaking and written skills
  • Top-tier critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a service-oriented team environment
  • Project Management, organization, and time management
  • Customer focused, and dedicated to the best possible user experience
  • Able to communicate effectively with both technical and business resources
