Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced AI/ML Engineer Scientist to join our team in Colorado Springs, working with the Missile Defense Agency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics, and modeling and simulation. They will be responsible for developing and implementing advanced AI/ML solutions to address complex defense challenges and contribute to the advancement of our products and services. This role requires a combination of strong theoretical understanding, practical implementation skills, and a passion for innovation.
Bonus Points:
The pay range for this position in Colorado is $100,000 to $160,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract wages, job- related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors. They will be responsible for developing and implementing advanced AI/ML solutions to address complex defense challenges and contribute to the advancement of our products and services. - Architect, design, and implement scalable AI/ML computing infrastructures, applications, and systems.
- Design, develop, and implement AI/ML algorithms and models for DoD applications such as command and control, situational awareness, machine autonomy, munitions guidance and targeting, image recognition, and electronic warfare.
- Study and transform data science prototypes and apply appropriate machine learning algorithms and tools.
- Run machine learning tests and experiments, documenting findings and results.
- Conduct data analysis and feature engineering to prepare data for model training and evaluation.
- Build and maintain data pipelines for efficient data ingestion, processing, and storage.
- Develop and implement model evaluation metrics and monitor model performance.
- Evaluate and implement the latest advancements in AI/ML, data mining, and analytics, and explore new technologies and techniques.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI/ML solutions into existing systems and workflows.
- Document and communicate research findings, model development processes, and implementation details.
- Contribute to the development of internal tools and libraries to enhance the efficiency of the AI/ML team.
- Mentor junior team members and share knowledge and expertise.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure the quality and maintainability of the codebase.
- Master's degree or PhD in Physics, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in developing and implementing AI/ML solutions in a professional setting.
- Strong foundation in programming (Python), machine learning algorithms, and relevant frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, pandas, and NumPy.
- Highly skilled in statistics, with the ability to assess, analyze, and organize large datasets.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Proficiency with data visualization tools and techniques.
- Solid understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and deep learning architectures.
- Experience with modeling and simulation techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- Active Top-Secret Clearance required; ship required.
Bonus Points:
- 7 years related experience with AI / ML solutions
- Demonstrable experience with AFSIM, including model development, integration, and analysis.
- Experience with MLOps and deploying models to production.
- Experience with big data technologies such as Spark and Hadoop.
- Contributions to open-source projects related to AI/ML.
- Publications in peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
