Job Title: Workday Payroll Functional Lead
Location: 100% Remote
3 months of Contract
Summary:
The Workday Payroll Functional Lead is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and support of Workday Payroll modules across the organization. This role involves collaborating with HR, Finance, and IT teams to ensure payroll processes are efficient, compliant, and aligned with business requirements. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in Workday Payroll functional capabilities, strong project leadership skills, and experience in managing payroll implementations or enhancements.
Duties:
- Lead the functional design, configuration, and deployment of Workday Payroll modules.
- Act as the primary point of contact for payroll-related Workday functionality and integration.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze payroll requirements and translate them into Workday solutions.
- Design and document payroll business processes, workflows, and system configurations.
- Oversee and participate in testing activities including unit, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Manage issue resolution and troubleshoot payroll system errors and discrepancies.
- Coordinate with technical teams for integrations with other systems (e.g., time tracking, benefits, finance).
- Provide training and support to payroll teams and end-users on Workday payroll functionality.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal payroll regulations and company policies.
- Drive continuous improvements and optimize payroll processes within Workday.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Workday Payroll updates, releases, and best practices.
- Manage and mentor junior functional analysts or consultants as needed.
- Collaborate with project managers to deliver Workday Payroll projects on time and within budget.
Experience:
- Bachelor s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in payroll functional roles, preferably with 3+ years in Workday Payroll.
- Strong understanding of payroll processes, tax regulations, and compliance.
- Proven experience leading Workday Payroll implementations or major system enhancements.
- Hands-on experience configuring Workday Payroll modules.
- Familiarity with Workday HCM and integrations is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy.
- Experience in a global payroll environment is an advantage.
