The ideal candidate for this role will have strong communication skills, hands-on experience in the life sciences industry, and be based in the Boston area. They should be capable of managing IT-focused projects, including software systems and infrastructure initiatives. While the position involves significant task management and coordination, we re looking for someone who brings strategic oversight and leadership not just a project coordinator.
Senior Project Manager Summary
The Senior Project Manager plays a key leadership role within the Project Management Office (PMO), responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of complex projects on time, within scope, and within budget. The position requires strong strategic oversight, stakeholder management, and dynamic problem-solving to deliver measurable business value.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage multiple projects, overseeing planning, execution, and delivery.
Define project scope, timelines, budgets, staffing needs, and deliverables.
Provide leadership and motivation to project teams; mentor junior project managers.
Implement communication plans, track risks and mitigations, and ensure consistent documentation.
Monitor progress, manage vendor relationships, and ensure alignment with PMO standards.
Benchmark performance and drive continuous improvement in project management practices.
Primary Stakeholders
Project sponsors, business unit executives, project teams, IT departments, subject matter experts, and external service providers.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor s in Computer Science or related field (Master s preferred). PMI or equivalent certification desired.
Experience: 7+ years in IT with at least 5 years managing complex, high-risk projects and leading cross-functional teams.
Skills:
Strong mix of business, IT, and communication expertise.
Proficient in project management methodologies (PMI, Agile).
Skilled in MS Project, Wrike, or SmartSheet.
Excellent verbal/written communication, leadership, and negotiation skills.
Experience with GxP validated systems and enterprise technical deployments.
Understanding of emerging technologies, including AI.
