Our client's team is responsible for protecting data in transit and at rest. We are looking for a highly motivated engineer with a strong security mindset who is eager to challenge assumptions and drive innovation. The ideal candidate is results-driven, adaptable to evolving security needs, and possesses excellent interpersonal and time management skills.

Rate: $50 - $60 / hr. w2

Responsibilities:
As a Lab Network Infrastructure Engineer, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, maintain, and optimize lab infrastructure for a network security device testing and automation environment. You will manage a fleet of over a thousand devices in a centralized, automated test system that supports development of both released and unreleased hardware and software. You will play a crucial role in deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting security devices, firewalls, and network configurations as software engineering tests code changes to components and hardware engineering tests new prototypes.

As a Lab Network Infrastructure Engineer, you will:
  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable and secure lab environments that support network security device testing and automation
  • Ensure devices, systems, and peripherals are up and available for testing
  • Provision and debug released / unreleased hardware and software failures
  • Develop scripts and automation for managing machine configuration and software deployment
  • Develop processes and workflows for updating lab hardware, including devices, cabling, firmware updates
  • Provide support to software engineering in debugging systems and devices
  • Maintain a safe lab environment
  • Work adjacent to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) on best practices and maintaining compliance such as
  • Emergency Action Plans (EAP)
  • Work adjacent to Real Estate & Development (RE&D) on technical requirements of new builds of labs and understand the financial impacts and operational impacts of decisions within the lab
  • Stay updated with the latest security technologies, methodologies, and research to enhance lab infrastructure
  • Act as a collaborative team player, a leader in innovation, a continuous learner, and a mentor to others
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, adapting to shifting priorities and requirements
  • Efficiently manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet critical deadlines
  • Believe in the power of automation, tooling, and rigorous testing as fundamental components of a secure infrastructure

Experience Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in network and security lab infrastructure management, including designing, deploying, and maintaining test environments
  • Experience with Bash and Python scripting, management tools Ansible or Puppet
  • Strong knowledge of network security principles, firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and access control mechanisms
  • Hands-on experience with network protocols (TCP/IP , BGP , OSPF, VLANs, etc.) and troubleshooting tools (Wireshark, tcp dump, etc.)
  • Proficiency in automation and scripting using Python, Bash, Ansible, or Terraform to streamline infrastructure management
  • Experience with security appliance deployment, configuration, and testing (Cisco, Palo Alto, Arista)
  • Familiarity with SIEM platforms, logging solutions, and security monitoring tools
  • Strong understanding of Linux/Unix system administration and infrastructure hardening
  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis for complex network and security-related issues
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive security mindset
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across multi-functional teams
  • Ability to build and maintain strong internal and external collaborative relationships
  • Ability to lift up to 50lb (required for system installation) with hands-on in the lab experience, preferably with lab environments at scale 1500 + systems; install / de-install / repair / validate
  • Creative thinker and strong problem solver with meticulous attention to detail

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Industry certifications include CCNP Security, PCNSE (Palo Alto), AWS Security Specialty
  • Experience working in security lab environments, including testing, validating, and benchmarking security devices
  • Deep understanding of Zero Trust architecture, network segmentation, and security best practices
  • Familiarity with container security and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • System Experience in administering iOS and watchOS
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, automation frameworks, and integrating security tools into DevSecOps pipelines
  • Hands-on experience with cloud security in AWS
  • Knowledge of PKI, cryptography , and certificate management
  • Strong grasp of data center infrastructure, including HV AC, power distribution, structured cabling, rack and stack, hardware installation and rack management
  • Experience with penetration testing methodologies, vulnerability assessments
  • Ability to analyze large-scale network traffic and security logs for anomaly detection and forensic investigations
  • Experience supporting high-availability, mission-critical security environments
  • Strong technical writing skills to document configurations, procedures, and security findings5
