Purpose of the Role
The Product Designer 3 will:
- Own and design end-to-end user experiences for Purview, focusing on data security, governance, compliance, and privacy.
- Collaborate with PM and Engineering partners to deliver high-quality UX across administrative workflows and emerging AI/agent-driven experiences.
- Elevate design quality by applying systems thinking, prototyping in Figma and code, and leveraging design systems to ensure coherence across Microsoft Security's product suite.
- Align priorities in daily stand-ups with designers, PMs, and engineers to ensure clear ownership and accountability.
- Refine user flows and wireframes for enterprise-grade security and compliance scenarios, ensuring accessibility and trust standards.
- Engage in deep design work to create high-fidelity prototypes, validate interaction patterns, and incorporate feedback from usability studies and stakeholder reviews.
- Collaborate with engineering partners to iterate on designs during implementation, ensuring pixel-perfect execution while challenging technical limitations.
- Leverage shared design systems to maintain coherence across Purview experiences and contribute to evolving design standards.
- Define and own product design needs for a set of experiences, synthesizing user insights and business requirements into actionable design strategies.
- Generate ideation solutions that balance business, user, and technical perspectives, articulating clear design narratives.
- Prototype new products and features rapidly, presenting to teams and customers to validate solutions.
- Create wireframes, journey maps, personas, task flows, and interaction models to support intuitive, human-centered experiences.
- Collaborate closely with engineering to ensure successful design implementation and iterate on solutions during development.
- Apply and extend Microsoft's design system, contributing to shared libraries and team education.
- Communicate proactively with cross-disciplinary teams, setting context for stakeholders and ensuring inclusive, respectful collaboration.
- Explore innovative storytelling methods (e.g., video, sound) to convey user needs and product narratives.
- Influence and support team members, contributing to collective success and amplifying design impact across the organization.
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field AND 3+ years of product/service design experience
- OR equivalent experience applying design thinking to solve complex problems.
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field AND 5+ years of product/service design experience
- OR Master's Degree in a related field AND 3+ years of product/service design experience.
- 2+ years shipping products or delivering customer-facing solutions through end-to-end design processes.
- Strong product thinking combined with deep UX expertise.
- Experience designing enterprise-grade solutions with a focus on accessibility, trust, and usability.
- Familiarity with design systems and information architecture.
- Curiosity and aptitude for leveraging AI-driven design tools and paradigms.
- Proven ability to collaborate in fast-paced, autonomous squad models with clear accountability and measurable outcomes.
- Skilled in prototyping, usability testing, and iterative design to deliver cohesive end-to-end workflows.
