Job Title: Mainframe Systems Engineer COBOL / DB2 / CICS
Location: Onsite in Torrance, CA
Pay Range: $69.00 $76.00 per hour, based on experience and internal equity
Schedule: Full-time, contract; long-term multi-year opportunity
Work Type: Hybrid 4 days in office, 1 day remote

Position Summary:
We are seeking a Mainframe Systems Engineer to serve as a subject matter expert and contribute to various Parts Applications projects, including the Texas Crossdock Project. This role will involve business requirements analysis, solution design, coding, testing, implementation, documentation, and post-deployment support. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, team leads, and other engineers to deliver high-quality mainframe solutions that align with enterprise technology strategies and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze business requirements and manage completion of assigned work
- Contribute to both small enhancements (~100 hours) and large-scale projects
- Gather requirements, perform functional and detailed analysis/design, execute testing (unit, integration, system, UAT), manage implementation, create documentation, and provide warranty support
- Define architectural solutions to meet application requirements
- Provide regular project status updates to the Project Manager or Lead
- Collaborate with multiple disciplines across the enterprise to ensure alignment with technology standards and roadmaps
- Allocate time across:
- Analysis/Design: 30 40%
- Development (coding, testing, implementation, warranty): 30 40%
- Architectural solutions: 20 40%
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proficiency in COBOL, CICS, JCL, IMS, VSAM, DB2, and System Development Life Cycle concepts
- Experience with Microsoft development technologies such as .NET Core, MVC.Net, C#, and Angular(plus)
- Working knowledge of software engineering, solution architecture, and multi-tier/cross-platform systems
- Understanding of enterprise IT infrastructure, networks, servers, and emerging technology standards/trends
- Experience with Waterfall and Agile methodologies
- Strong collaboration skills with business and technical teams
- Knowledge of automotive parts systems, warehousing, and supply chain (plus)
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of Big 4 consulting experience
- Stable work history with large enterprise organizations
