Job Details
Only candidates with PST/MST and CST time zones will be accepted. EST time zone resumes will be rejected.
No traveling required but prefer candidates located on the western side of the U.S. or in the Central Time Zone. Eastern Time Zone candidates are not preferred.
Please note that this is a 8-month contract position possibility of extend.
- 3 years of experience in telecom industry.
- Experience in fiber optic network design is required.
- Familiarity with software such as MapInfo, Visio, AutoCAD, Google Maps, and Google Earth is required.
MUST Haves:
- Understanding of fiber optics/telecom
- Attention to details
Additional Requirements:
Prior experience with similar tools will be helpful due to the training and material the candidate will need to learn upon hiring.
The candidate should be comfortable with validating designs and understanding designs documented in customer platforms.
A deep understanding of fiber contracts, interconnectivity requirements within carrier hotels (including physical interfaces, cable types, fiber types, and connector types) is required.
The role involves a high degree of visibility, with significant communication with customers and updates during big meetings. Therefore, excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills are crucial. The candidate must be able to speak in front of an audience and deliver clear messages.
Capable of documenting and managing fiber optic network assets for both inside and outside plant networks. The role requires editing and modifying network data and researching/developing fiber optic network techniques and approaches.
Ideally cover the West Coast (Pacific Time Zone). However, if the candidate is in the Central Time Zone, it’s still acceptable. The candidate should be flexible in working hours and can cover other time zones when necessary.
- Basic understanding of project management is essential because all projects are managed through project management platforms. The candidate should be able to navigate these tools, find tasks, and update the platform as needed. Experience with project management tools will be highly beneficial.
Job Role Clarifications:
The candidate will primarily be reviewing and validating designs, not designing them. They will be responsible for checking customer databases, such as network documents, to ensure sufficient fiber availability and placing new orders if necessary.
While experience in network design is not required, it would greatly benefit the candidate as it will allow them to ramp up more quickly and understand the network and fiber data with ease.
The role involves reading and understanding fiber optic network contracts. The candidate will need to ensure that customers adhere to the terms of existing dark fiber contracts, but they will not be involved in negotiating those terms.
Education Requirements:
Associate degree or some college education would be preferable. However, if the candidate has sufficient relevant work experience, that could be sufficient in place of formal education.
