Title: Senior Associate, M&A Technology


Location: Remote


Client Industry: Professional Services - supports private equity and corporate acquirers across sectors


Compensation: $70 - $85/hr. (Contract)


We have partnered with our client in their search for a Senior Associate, M&A Technology. The Senior Associate, M&A Technology supports buy-side, sell-side, and merger integration engagements by analyzing target technology environments, quantifying risks, costs, and value drivers, and turning findings into clear, executive-ready deliverables. Partnering with Corporate Development, IT, and private equity clients-as well as cross-functional leaders in Finance, HR, Operations, and Procurement-the role builds models, drafts Day 1/Day 100 plans, and keeps Project Management Office (PMO) artifacts current to enable timely decisions. Success is measured by accuracy of diligence insights, clarity of materials, on-time milestones and transition service agreement (TSA) exits, and realized synergy tracking.


Responsibilities




  • Support technology due diligence for buy-side, sell-side, and merger integrations by collecting and analyzing data on applications, infrastructure, data, and cyber posture




  • Build Excel-based cost to integrate/separate and total cost of ownership (TCO) models, quantifying near-term investments, synergies, and risk mitigations for manager review




  • Draft Day 1/Day 100 plans and transition service agreement (TSA) schedules, tracking TSA exits and dependencies across workstreams




  • Maintain Project Management Office (PMO) artifacts including risks, assumptions, issues, and decisions (RAID) logs, milestones, key performance indicators (KPIs), and cutover plans




  • Assist with application rationalization decisions (keep/retire/migrate/harmonize), data migration planning and master data management (MDM) approach, and process/control harmonization




  • Prepare executive-ready materials, synthesizing findings into clear options, implications, costs, and recommendations




  • Perform vendor and license inventories, support contract analysis and right-sizing recommendations, and coordinate with procurement and legal




  • Contribute to playbooks, templates, and benchmarks, capturing lessons learned to improve diligence and integration frameworks




Skills Required




  • 3-5 years in technology consulting, transaction advisory, or corporate M&A technology with participation in 2+ transactions




  • Working knowledge of applications portfolios, IT infrastructure and cloud (AWS or Azure), data architecture, and basic cyber hygiene, assessed against structured checklists




  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint, including financial modeling, pivot tables, and clear slide storylining




  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, or Smartsheet for status cadence and maintaining RAID and KPI tracking across 2+ workstreams




  • Ability to quantify TCO, synergies, cost to integrate/separate, and impacts to profit and loss (P&L) and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) with manager oversight




  • Familiarity with transition service agreements (TSAs), Day 1/Day 100 planning, interim solutions, cutover planning, and stabilization




  • Exposure to application rationalization and data migration or MDM strategy, with basic SQL or business intelligence (Power BI, Tableau, or Alteryx) a plus




  • Clear written and verbal communication to translate technical detail for non-technical executives




  • Strong organization and prioritization to manage competing deadlines in a deal environment




  • Understanding of vendor and software licensing models and fundamentals of IT financial management




Education & Work Experience




  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience in information systems, computer science, engineering, or related field




  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in technology consulting or M&A technology roles




  • Participation in at least 2 end-to-end deal engagements across diligence or integration/separation
