Appian Developer
As an Appian Developer, you’ll be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing business process automation and workflow solutions using the Appian platform. You’ll work closely with business analysts, technical teams, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust Appian applications that streamline processes, integrate with systems, and deliver high-quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, configure, and deploy scalable Appian applications based on business requirements.
- Build core Appian artifacts – process models, interfaces, records, SAIL forms, rules, CDTs, reports, sites.
- Integrate Appian solutions with external systems using Web APIs (REST/SOAP) and other integration services.
- Optimize and enhance existing Appian applications for performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather functional requirements and give technical insights.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues during development and after deployment.
- Follow Appian and software best practices, coding standards, and deployment processes.
- Prepare development documentation (technical specs, config docs, test plans).
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, demos).
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
- 3–4+ years’ experience in Appian development (or hands-on with Appian BPM platform).
- Strong experience with Appian objects – SAIL interfaces, process models, CDTs, rules, constants, sites, records.
- Experience with integration technologies (Web APIs, REST/SOAP).
- Familiar with relational databases, SQL, and data modeling.
- Understanding of the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
Soft Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Able to interact with cross-functional stakeholders and translate business needs into technical designs.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Appian Certification (Associate / Developer / Senior).
- Experience with Appian plug-ins and deeper integration strategies.
- Exposure to Java, web dev concepts (HTML/CSS/JS) for custom integrations.
- Prior work in Insurance or Financial Services domain (would be a plus).
