Job Title : Senior Google Cloud Platform DevOps Engineer
Location: Remote
Duration: 12+ Months contract On W2

The Role

We re modernizing our digital platforms that power clinic operations, client engagement, and patient care. We re looking for a hands-on Senior Google Cloud Platform DevOps Engineer who can come in ready on Day 1, take ownership of current deployments, and lead the design and rollout of a production-grade DevOps environment on Google Cloud (GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud Build, Terraform, CI/CD, observability, and security).

You will be the go-to owner for infrastructure reliability, release pipelines, container platforms, and day-to-day operations across Linux and Windows workloads (including web servers like Nginx and IIS). This is a builder/operational role with immediate impact.

What You ll Do

  • Stabilize & Own Today
    • Take over existing cloud and on-prem deployments; map environments, dependencies, SLIs/SLOs, backups, and access controls.
    • Improve uptime, performance, and monitoring with Cloud Monitoring/Logging, alerting, dashboards, and runbooks.
    • Triage incidents, lead RCA, and close reliability gaps.
  • Design & Migrate to Google Cloud Platform
    • Architect and implement container platforms using GKE and/or Cloud Run; establish Container/Artifact Registry, Secret Manager, Cloud KMS, Cloud Load Balancing, Cloud Armor, VPC networking, Cloud DNS, Cloud NAT.
    • Lead application containerization (Docker), environment standardization, and rollout strategies (blue/green, canary).
    • Build resilient data layers (e.g., Cloud SQL, GCS), backups, and DR with clear RTO/RPO targets.
  • IaC & CI/CD
    • Codify infrastructure with Terraform (and/or Cloud Deployment Manager/Cloud SDK) and enforce Git-based change control.
    • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Cloud Build and/or Jenkins/GitHub Actions, including automated tests, policy gates, and approvals for both apps and infra.
    • Introduce Helm and/or Kustomize for Kubernetes release management.
  • Security & Access
    • Implement least-privilege IAM (users, service accounts, Workload Identity), secret rotation, image signing/scanning, and guardrails (OPA/Conftest where applicable).
    • Embed DevSecOps checks (SAST/DAST, container scanning such as Trivy/Anchore) into pipelines; maintain audit trails and compliance evidence.
  • Ops Excellence
    • Administer Linux and Windows servers; manage Nginx/IIS configurations, certificates, logs, and hardening.
    • Establish SRE practices SLIs/SLOs, capacity planning, error budgets, on-call, and incident response playbooks.
    • Drive FinOps basics: labeling, budgets/alerts, and cost optimization.

What You ve Done (Must-Haves)

  • 15+ years in DevOps/SRE/Platform roles with deep Google Cloud Platform experience (certifications preferred).
  • Built/operated GKE and/or Cloud Run platforms; strong Docker fundamentals.
  • Delivered IaC with Terraform; comfortable with Cloud Deployment Manager/Cloud SDK.
  • Built CI/CD for both applications and infrastructure (Cloud Build, Jenkins, etc.).
  • Administered Linux and Windows in production; web servers (Nginx, IIS).
  • Implemented monitoring/alerting with Cloud Monitoring/Logging; exposure to PrometheGrafana is a plus.
  • Practical IAM design and user/permissions management.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, Bash; PowerShell a plus).
  • Working DevSecOps skills (vuln scanning, secrets, policies, hardening).
  • Excellent written and spoken English; able to document, present, and influence.
