Job Overview:
As a Plant Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and replacing automation systems throughout the production process. You will troubleshoot component parts, including motion sensors, control components, photosensors, and other vital technology. Job Overview:

Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and replace automation systems at key points in the production process.
- Troubleshoot non-functioning components, including servos, sensors, and control components.
- Log equipment usage, parts replacement, and scheduled maintenance to ensure maximum functionality.
- Report to leadership regarding automation capabilities and status.
- Program, maintain, and diagnose variable frequency drives.
- Troubleshoot mix proof valves and automatic valves.
- Set up and maintain chart recorders.
- Setup, calibrate, and troubleshoot pressure, thermal, level, and flow instruments.
- Design and build functionality in the plant systems platform.
- Troubleshoot network switches and machine safety circuits.
- Lead RCA events with expertise in automation and controls.
- Connect, maintain, and troubleshoot IO-Link Protocol.
- Troubleshoot CIP and SIP controls.
Qualifications:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Ability to operate testing equipment and follow instructions/user manuals.
- Ability to record and organize daily records.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Perform all work in a safe and professional manner.
- Read, interpret, and follow P&IDs, shop drawings, and schematics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement, monitor, and uphold high safety standards in all aspects of automation routines.
- Ensure processes and standards are in place to maintain quality food production and high performance.
- Report top downtime for each shift and communicate ongoing issues to the incoming shift.
- Lead troubleshooting for top downtime items, identifying and correcting root causes.
- Provide support to vendors and technicians on-site for commissioning, training, and maintenance.
- Participate in cross-functional teams focused on reducing downtime and improving performance.
- Maintain detailed records of automation activity, changes, and problem resolutions.
- Advocate for the shift when opportunities arise requiring support from plant leadership.
Education and Experience:
- Technical or trade schooling, military training, or a degree in electrical or mechanical fields preferred.
- 5+ years of industrial automation experience preferred.
- Experience with Aveva (Wonderware) System platform is ideal.
- Extensive experience programming Allen-Bradley 755 and 525 variable frequency drives preferred.
- Experience working with Anderson chart recorders is a plus.
- Knowledge of industrial utility systems and thermal processing is a plus.
- Experience troubleshooting large industrial systems and maintaining electro-mechanical components.
