Job Details
Currently seeking an exceptional UI/UX Designer to join a large federal project. As a part of our dynamic remote team, the selected candidate will apply Human-Centered Design (HCD) principles to develop and enhance user-centric applications that prioritize usability, accessibility, and high availability. Ideal candidates are highly skilled in user research, prototyping, and collaboration with cross-functional teams, with a strong proficiency in design tools and the ability to continuously improve user experiences through iterative testing and feedback.
The candidate must reside within the continental US.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with product teams to define project requirements and objectives.
- Conduct usability testing to enhance user experience and improve accessibility.
- Design fully accessible and user-friendly applications, adhering to VA Digital Service guidelines and United States Web Design Systems (USWDS) standards.
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and mockups to illustrate design concepts.
- Lead user research through interviews, surveys, and testing to understand user needs.
- Translate complex processes into intuitive, user-focused designs.
- Provide UX guidance and ensure designs align with HCD principles and accessibility standards.
- Document design activities, user research insights, and usability improvements.
- Additional tasks as needed to support project success.
Requirements:
- Bachelor s degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, HCI, or related field.
- Proven UI/UX design experience with a strong portfolio showcasing design expertise.
- Experience with Human-Centered Design (HCD) and user research.
- Ability to synthesize research findings and implement design improvements.
- Strong documentation skills, capturing research questions, methodologies, and findings.
Additional Qualifications:
- Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma and Axure.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (Section 508) and best practices.
- Familiarity with Design Systems, Design tokens and how to use them.
- Agile development experience and adaptability to iterative feedback.
- Knowledge of VA/DHA/HHS practices is a plus.
