Description
We are looking for a skilled Network Engineer to join our team in Barrington, Illinois. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining secure and efficient network solutions while ensuring optimal performance and reliability. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Cisco technologies and a strong understanding of network security protocols.
Responsibilities:
Configure, deploy, and manage Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems to ensure seamless network operations.
Implement security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and access control strategies, to safeguard network infrastructure.
Develop standardized architecture, processes, and implementation plans for job sites, addressing specific requests as needed.
Monitor network performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues to maintain reliability and efficiency.
Analyze and address network vulnerabilities, mitigating potential threats through strategic solutions.
Collaborate with IT and security teams to design resilient infrastructure and integrate risk mitigation strategies.
Create and maintain detailed documentation, including configurations, procedures, and network diagrams.
Provide support for network-related incident response, troubleshooting, and resolution.
Assist with audits and ensure compliance with relevant security standards and organizational policies.
Manage and support corporate and job site network configurations, ensuring security protocols are consistently applied.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
At least 5 years of experience as a Network Engineer in Cisco-based environments, demonstrating attention to detail.
In-depth knowledge of Cisco technologies, including routing, switching, wireless solutions, and firewalls.
Proven expertise in network security tools and concepts, such as ACLs, segmentation, and intrusion prevention systems.
Hands-on experience with Cisco platforms like Firepower, Meraki, or other advanced solutions.
Familiarity with security standards and frameworks, ensuring adherence to best practices.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to address complex network issues effectively.
Proficiency with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds or Cisco DNA Center.
