This role is part of Enterprise Technology (ET), where we're developing the digital infrastructure needed to build the road to space, with an emphasis on digital capabilities required to advance Blue Origin's mission. Enterprise Technology is the center of excellence for digital technology at Blue Origin, providing oversight and governance to align technology and business strategies.
As part of a small team of experts, you will work with architects, software engineers, system owners, product managers and business leaders at multiple levels (from executives to technicians) to design and deliver critical business systems and custom software. Including developing tools owned and maintained by the architecture group to improve developer efficiency and innovation. Through these partnerships you will ensure all requirements are met and the digital ecosystem of Blue Origin is balanced and serves as a strategic enabler of our business.

Additional Responsibilities Include:
- Work with internal technical and non-technical stakeholders to deeply understand their business and technical needs. Develop solutions that make the best use of the current technology portfolio as well as designing custom software
- Work directly with engineers to accelerate their outcomes and recommend best-practice cloud architectures in line with long-term business goals
- Collaborate with business and support teams to ensure successful design and execution of technical solutions
- Drive accountability to the implementation plan across engineering and business teams
- Owning the technical delivery plan
- Employ the latest research and industry standard methodologies in problem domain to craft innovative and repeatable solutions
- Act as a thought leader in the engineering community, playing a key role in educating, sharing best practices, and running workshops
- Working backwards from a customer's business needs, creating a holistic technology vision, strategy and transformation plan.
- Advisory responsibility for creating optimal design of software solutions, deployment environments and processes, and analyzing complex distributed production deployments
- Consult technology partners on best practices for Software Architecture
Required Skills and Experience:
- Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space!
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or similar domain
- 10 years of hands-on experience with at least two programming languages (Java, Python, Rust, Go, or C# preferred)
- 10 years of experience in design, development and implementation of complex distributed systems
- Demonstrable experience working together with business stakeholders and technical teams on the design and implementation of Solution Architectures that lead to business transformation with measurable outcomes.
- Experience with relational, non-relational, NoSQL databases
- Experience with AWS Stack (RDS, S3, Kinesis, Lambda, SQS/SNS, etc)
- Experience using LLMs to accelerate your workflow and to implementing intelligent applications
- Experience developing innovative solutions to complex business and technology problems
- Experience in implementing High Availability systems
- Experience with web-based APIs (REST, SOAP, GraphQL)
- Strong verbal and written communications skills, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations and virtual teams.
Desired:
- Master's or Doctorate Degree in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering or Math
- Ability to collaborate effectively across organizations
- Experience using Decision Making Frameworks (KT Analysis, Architecture Decision Records, S.W.O.T.)
- Deep expertise in designing and optimizing both OLTP and OLAP systems
- Experience working in the AWS Well Architected Framework
- Demonstrated industry efficiency in the fields of database, data warehousing or data sciences
- Experience in manufacturing industry processes such as Global Supply Chain, Manufacturing Execution and Product Development
- Experience with IoT / Smart Factory data collection and aggregation
