RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Palo Alto, CA that is seeking a Mechanical Engineer.
Summary:
The Infrastructure Design team leads the development of innovative solutions for complex R&D and manufacturing facilities. We specialize in creating sophisticated infrastructure systems that power next-generation research and production environments.
Responsibilities:
* Drive end-to-end design for facility infrastructure projects, ensuring seamless integration across all engineering disciplines
* Partner with RnD teams to translate production requirements into efficient, scalable infrastructure solutions that optimize performance and cost
* Collaborate with internal/external EPC teams to ensure designs and specifications meet engineering standards
* Lead constructability reviews and coordinate cross-disciplinary design integration to prevent conflicts and optimize installation efficiency
* Conduct thorough capacity and risk analyses for capital infrastructure projects while developing and validating cost estimates at the conceptual phase
* Create adaptable designs that accommodate future growth, utilizing sophisticated modeling software to optimize and validate results, while maintaining the ability to defend design decisions to leadership
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
* Thorough knowledge of ICC codes and California Title 24 requirements
* Proven construction administration experience including RFI and submittal review
* Demonstrated advanced proficiency in technical and modeling software including Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite, and BIM
* Skilled in CFD modeling using industry-leading tools such as Simcenter STAR-CCM+ and Ansys Fluent
* Knowledgeable in sustainable design practices and energy efficiency, with strong cost-benefit thinking to assess when detailed CFD modeling is essential versus when simpler approaches are more appropriate
* Strong track record of delivering large-scale infrastructure projects preferred
* Experience in scripting and automation with Python, MATLAB, or C++ to streamline pre- and post-processing workflows is preferred
