Overview
A Functional Tester is responsible for ensuring that software applications function as intended according to specified requirements. They play a critical role in verifying the software's behavior and identifying defects.
Core Responsibilities:
- Test Planning and Design: Analyze software requirements and specifications to create comprehensive test plans and design detailed test cases covering all functionalities.
- Test Execution: Manually execute test cases according to the plan, meticulously testing each feature and functionality of the software.
- Defect Reporting and Bug Tracking: Identify and document software defects clearly, including steps to reproduce the issue and expected behavior. Utilize bug tracking tools to report and track the progress of identified issues.
- Data Management: Create and manage test data to ensure thorough testing of various scenarios and edge cases.
- Regression Testing: Re-run critical test cases throughout the development cycle to ensure regressions haven't been introduced with new code.
- Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders about test results, defects, and progress reports.
