Position Summary

  • The Senior Business Systems Analyst (BSA) will play a critical role in delivering Via LA’s NextGen platform, supporting the definition and implementation of a Unified Calculation Engine, metadata-driven logic services, and modular business capabilities.
  • This role involves deep collaboration within SCRUM teams and with cross-functional stakeholders across business and technical domains.
  • The BSA will use tools such as Enterprise Architect (EA) and Miro to model domain concepts, capability maps, and data flows. They will also document integration payloads and dialect requirements (e.g., JSON/XML), ensuring alignment between user needs and technical implementation—without being responsible for coding or building API endpoints

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning, Requirements & Modeling

Elicit, document, and refine functional and non-functional requirements using a use case–driven methodology in agile/SCRUM environments.

Use Enterprise Architect (EA) and Miro to create and maintain domain models, capability swimlanes, data dictionaries, and system interaction diagrams.

Map business processes to service boundaries and assist in identifying reusable business logic across programs.

Drive MVP planning and milestone deliverables with clearly scoped features, documented dependencies, and defined acceptance criteria.

System Integration Documentation & Design

Translate business needs into structured workflows, logic rules, and business-level technical requirements for modular services.

Define and document integration payloads and dialect expectations (e.g., JSON, XML) to support API design—without implementing or coding endpoints.

Ensure integration points and service interfaces are accurately reflected in EA models and related documentation.

Automation & SDLC Enablement

Participate actively in SCRUM ceremonies (sprint planning, refinement, retrospectives) to support backlog grooming and delivery cadence.

Collaborate with QA and automation engineers to ensure testability and traceability using tools like Tosca or UiPath.

Align EA models, Jira stories, and Confluence documentation to ensure full lifecycle traceability.

Audit, Controls & Governance

Document system behavior and business logic in alignment with SOX and FINSIG IT control frameworks.

Support internal and external audit walkthroughs by maintaining traceability between business rules, requirements, and test cases.

Define metadata-driven rule structures to ensure reusability and transparency of calculations.

Communication & Reporting

Deliver high-quality artifacts: process flows, capability diagrams, decision tables, integration specs, and glossary documentation.

Communicate proactively with product owners, developers, and stakeholders to resolve ambiguities and reduce delivery risk.

Contribute to milestone planning visuals and progress summaries for leadership and external stakeholders.

Experience

  • 6+ years as a Business Systems Analyst in enterprise software or platform modernization initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience with Enterprise Architect (EA)
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a SCRUM team.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, modular system design, and data-driven business logic.

Skills & Tools

  • Proficiency in Enterprise Architect (EA), Jira, Confluence, Miro, Visio, or similar tools.
  • Strong background in business process modeling and functional requirements documentation.
  • Understanding of integration payload structure and dialects (e.g., JSON, XML), with the ability to document but not code integration endpoints.
  • Exposure to automation tools (Tosca, UiPath) and audit frameworks (SOX, FINSIG).
