Job Title: SINteL Lab Manager - Systems Integration Lab Manager

Employment Type: Contract 1/5/25 - 12/31/26
Position Overview

The SINteL Lab Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the operational readiness, functionality, and continuous improvement of a technical lab environment. This position is focused on lab operations rather than engineering team management and requires a hands-on, proactive approach to supporting users, maintaining equipment, and optimizing lab resources.
Key Responsibilities

Facility & Equipment Management
  • Oversee lab cleanliness, organization, and maintenance.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting and coordinate repairs.
  • Manage equipment schedules and ensure operational readiness.

Resource & Consumable Management
  • Establish and maintain inventory of lab consumables and components.
  • Monitor stock levels and ensure timely replenishment.
  • Maintain inventory documentation via SharePoint.

User Support & Coordination
  • Provide daily on-site technical and logistical support.
  • Assist with space setup, soldering, wire fabrication, and general technical tasks.
  • Manage scheduling of test benches and lab equipment.

Strategic Planning & Needs Assessment
  • Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of lab and user needs.
  • Develop actionable plans to address requirements.
  • Propose annual lab improvement plans with cost and timeline estimates.

Fleet & Vehicle Management
  • Manage department test vehicle usage via the Fleet Management System (FMS).
  • Facilitate access for authorized personnel and act as sub-coordinator for vehicle-related activities.
Project Objectives
  • Maintain lab equipment in optimal working condition.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized lab environment.
  • Establish and sustain consumables inventory.
  • Provide consistent on-site user support.
  • Develop and implement strategic lab improvement initiatives.
  • Optimize scheduling of lab resources and test vehicles.
Functional Requirements
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform hands-on fixes, coordinate technical support, and manage repair services. Document work orders and maintenance status.
  • Lab Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized lab space.
  • Inventory Management: Create and maintain consumables inventory documentation.
  • Needs Assessment: Evaluate lab conditions and user requirements; report findings to the SINteL team.
  • Consumables Replenishment: Monitor and restock lab supplies as needed.
  • User Support: Provide daily on-site assistance including technical tasks and space management.
  • Planning: Develop plans to meet user needs and propose future lab improvements.
  • Scheduling: Manage access to lab equipment and test benches.
  • Vehicle Coordination: Oversee test vehicle usage and access within FMS.
  • Qualifications
    • Experience in lab operations, technical support, or facilities management.
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to perform basic technical tasks (e.g., soldering, wiring).
    • Familiarity with inventory systems and scheduling tools.
    • Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
