Role: Business Development Officer SBA Lending
Location: Remote
Job Summary:
The Business Development Officer (BDO) is responsible for driving the growth and management of Small Business Administration (SBA) lending relationships nationwide. This role includes originating SBA loans, equipment leasing, and asset-based lending (ABL) transactions. The BDO will manage the full life cycle of each deal from business development and relationship cultivation through underwriting and funding while ensuring strong credit quality and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Originate SBA 7(a), 504 loans, equipment leases, and ABL financing for small businesses across the U.S.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through direct outreach, networking, referrals, and broker relationships.
  • Develop and execute a market-specific sales strategy in collaboration with senior leadership and marketing.
  • Build and maintain relationships with small business owners, referral partners, and commercial brokers.
  • Prepare financing applications, submit complete loan packages to underwriting, and present credit requests to Credit Committee.
  • Obtain signed loan commitments and coordinate with operations to ensure timely funding.
  • Consistently meet or exceed annual loan production goals.
  • Actively manage pipeline and deal flow using Salesforce and other origination platforms.
  • Maintain strong awareness of SBA program guidelines, market conditions, and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of sales experience in financial services.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of SBA lending required.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Proven ability to originate $20MM+ in SBA loans annually over the past three years.
  • Strong credit analysis and commercial loan structuring capabilities.
  • Proficiency in financial statement review and cash flow analysis.
  • Demonstrated success in B2B sales and relationship management.
  • Understanding of marketing and risk management principles.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Active referral network highly preferred.
  • Proficient in Salesforce or similar CRM systems.
