Position Summary:
Our partner, a leading financial institution, is expanding its IT Operations team by adding a Systems Administrator. This is a hands-on role focused on maintaining and securing a large-scale Windows and VMware environment in a regulated enterprise setting. The new hire will work alongside the existing SysAdmin, taking ownership of patching, vulnerability remediation, and backups while supporting daily infrastructure operations. The focus isn t constant firefighting, its stability, automation, and proactive improvement. Experience and Education:
- BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, Arts or equivalent experience/field
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in Windows systems administration
- Exposure to VMware virtualization (vSphere/ESXi) in production environments
- Experience in regulated or compliance-driven industries (banking, finance, healthcare, etc.)
- Background with patch management and vulnerability remediation tools
- Experience supporting Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and GPOs
- Familiarity with scripting and automation (PowerShell preferred)
- Participation in audits, change control, or compliance processes (PCI, SOX, or similar)

Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain Windows Server infrastructure (accounts, GPOs, DNS, DHCP, permissions)
- Administer VMware environments and assist with system-level troubleshooting
- Oversee automated patching via Quest KACE and remediate failed deployments
- Review vulnerability scans, prioritize issues, and perform remediation actions
- Maintain and validate system backups with Veeam
- Write and modify PowerShell scripts for automation and configuration management
- Collaborate with Systems Engineer and IT Architect on infrastructure improvements
- Participate in change management, compliance reviews, and incident response
- Support day-to-day server escalations from Help Desk and ensure environment uptime
- Maintain accurate documentation and asset inventories
- Proactively identify system optimization opportunities
- Participate in audit preparation and compliance reporting
- Contribute to knowledge-sharing playbooks and process documentation
- Support cybersecurity initiatives as part of incident response activities
- Communicate effectively across IT teams and leadership
