Job Opportunity: Sr. Web Accessibility Engineer

  • Title: Sr. Web & Mobile Accessibility Engineer
  • Location: Orlando, FL or Anaheim, CA hubs (Hybrid – minimum 2x onsite/week; subject to change)
  • Contract:  W2 only, 12 months initial contract with potential for extension of up to 22 months or conversion to full time employment through the client or CEI
  • Pay Rate: $70.00 – $80.00/hour + optional medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match
 
 
Responsibilities
  • Groom Jira Issues to identify and clarify Critical and High Accessibility Bugs, updating descriptions and work plans to ensure clear requirements and code samples are defined.
  • Analyze backlogs and support project development teams to identify root causes for accessibility issues.
  • Engage with and coach scrum-masters or studio leads to ensure Critical and High Bugs are prioritized and resolved holistically.
  • Independently perform accessibility audits of web pages, UI workflows, or mobile applications using manual methods, automated tools, and assistive technologies.
  • Clearly document test results and recommended code-level fixes.
  • Rapidly prototype technical solutions to support requirements and standards development.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and internal accessibility professionals to solve complex requirements.
  • Validate and help define acceptance criteria using BDD/Gherkin.
  • Design, develop, and implement tools, scripts, and infrastructure for validating applications.
  • Take ownership of accessibility automation, including tool customization and delivery.
  • Provide accessibility coaching or mentorship to team members and developers.
  • Maintain accessibility documentation repositories using tools like Confluence.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and emerging standards (e.g., WCAG 2.2 AA).
  • Participate in agile planning, code reviews, and documentation.
 
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in web accessibility across auditing, development, or remediation.
  • Expert knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA standards and their practical application, with awareness of WCAG 2.2 AA updates.
  • Strong coding proficiency in HTML, with the ability to troubleshoot for accessibility compliance.
  • Proficient with Jira for issue tracking and task management.
  • Demonstrated experience in manual and automated testing using tools such as Axe, Chrome DevTools (Accessibility Pane), WAVE, color contrast analyzers, and assistive technologies (JAWS, VoiceOver, NVDA; ZoomText optional).
  • Familiarity with test automation tools such as Jenkins, Xcode Server, or VS Build Server.
  • Solid understanding of web development principles and technologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to interact cross-functionally and work independently.
  • Ability to prioritize and resolve Critical/High accessibility bugs independently.
  • Experienced in creating and maintaining accessibility documentation; Confluence experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Angular development environments.
  • Prior experience in mature testing organizations (e.g., Microsoft, Hilton).
  • Demonstrated passion for web accessibility and inclusive user experiences.
  • Comfortable mentoring less experienced developers or QA professionals.
  • Experience testing Server Delivered User Interfaces (SDUI), such as Flutter applications.
 
Education Requirements
  • Required: 4-year degree in Computer Science or a related field.
