Description
Our client is soliciting resumes for a Lead Network Engineer Consultant to fill a position assisting the
Infrastructure Services Department. The Consultant will be required as soon as possible through May 05, 2026, with
possible extension. The preferred work posture for the position is hybrid.
Consultants must be W2 employees of your firm; corp. to corp. relationships are not allowed.
Equipment
They are not allowed to deploy company owned or leased assets to Vendors or Consultants for use in any location
outside of its facilities; therefore, Consultants working in remote or hybrid postures will be required to supply all their
own equipment. They will only provide equipment to Consultants for work performed 100% onsite. Consultants
will not be allowed to take any of their specific equipment off premises.
Consultant Requirements - Lead Network Engineer Consultant
Experience leveraging Ansible, Terraform and GitOps for Configuration Management and related workflows
Knowledge of Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), Palo Alto Prisma Cloud, Prisma Cloud for AWS.
Demonstrated experience integrating corporate networks, including point-to-point/VPN, with AWS as well as
AWS via Direct Connect.
Demonstrated experience working with Internal/External BGP enterprise deployments
Experience working with wavelength-division multiplexing technologies
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, writing, documentation and customer service skills.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide network expertise on projects as a Lead Network Engineer to architect, document, implement and
oversee key IT initiatives, across multiple regions, data centers and mixed vendor technologies.
Assess organizational needs and make recommendations to influence the technical direction of the team and
organization, promoting efficiency, reliability, excellence, and continuous improvement
Manage network policy changes using change management workflows and GitOps
Lead incident investigations, diagnosis and service restoration of emerging network issues.
Conduct reviews of network systems to proactively identify problems and design, pitch, implement, and lead
technical solutions
Consider Application state in relation to network infrastructure, while being able to advocate and explain mission
to various levels of technical audiences.
Minimum Requirements / Education
Bachelor's degree in information technology related field of study with a network engineering focus, or equivalent
experience.
One or more relevant certifications such as CCNP and/or AWS Certified Advanced Networking
Knowledge of IPv6 concepts and methods of deployment
Additional Skills & Qualifications
We are seeking a candidate with a solid networking foundation who can handle day-to-day tasks involving AWS, Ansible, automation, and standard networking. The ideal candidate should also be proficient in CI/CD processes to support our automation goals. Key requirements include:
Networking Expertise: Understanding of routing and major protocols.
AWS Network Experience: Familiarity with AWS networking and Terraform.
Automation Skills: 1-2 years of experience with Ansible, Terraform, GitHub/GitOps, and the ability to explain these technologies at a high level.
Additional Information:
Palo Alto: Not a must-have; the team is currently deploying and upskilling on this technology so there will be training
On-Call Rotation: Proximity to the office is required for on-call rotation (1 week every 1.5 months), starting 6 months into the role. Candidates should be within an hour's drive from the office.
Work Environment: Hybrid posture with on-prem vs. cloud work split around 50-50. Candidates should be local to Western MA, ideally within an hour's drive to Holyoke or Windsor campus, and be onsite in Holyoke on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Projects:
Onboarding Palo Alto, Prisma Access, Cloud Manager.
Transitioning to a mostly cloud environment with Azure, including building out new edge architecture.
Refreshing enterprise core network with access refreshes planned for next year.
Initial work will be 60-70% operations and 30-40% project-based, transitioning to a more balanced or project-focused workload over time.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $80.00/hr.
