They are known for delivering critical raw materials that power the modern world. Headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, the organization employs several hundred professionals across finance, HR, IT, and planning. With a strong focus on safety, performance, and long-term sustainability, the company offers an environment where innovation and operational excellence thrive.

Job Description

As Maintenance Operations Manager, you’ll take a strategic leadership role supporting maintenance functions across multiple mining sites globally. You’ll help develop and unify processes, drive operational consistency, and ensure safety, performance, and cost targets are achieved. This role is instrumental in managing maintenance execution through influence, collaboration, and data-driven decision-making, rather than direct oversight.

The ideal candidate brings deep maintenance expertise, especially in mining, and is comfortable navigating matrixed environments. The role involves close collaboration with Site Managers, Superintendents, Training teams, and senior leadership. Travel will include two-week rotations to both U.S. and international mine sites—up to 30% annually.

  • Standardize maintenance processes, measurements, and accountability structures across sites.

  • Drive operational consistency in planning, scheduling, execution, and analysis of maintenance programs.

  • Support Lifecycle and component replacement programs across facilities.

  • Evaluate work execution processes and provide coaching and guidance to site Maintenance Superintendents.

  • Oversee safety performance and ensure all practices align with MSHA/OSHA regulations.

  • Support training initiatives in collaboration with internal training departments.

  • Co-manage budgets, forecasts, and cost controls in conjunction with site leadership.

  • Encourage cross-site resource sharing and promote technology use for performance improvement.

  • Travel to mine sites both domestically and internationally, typically up to two weeks at a time.

Required Experience/Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • 10+ years of maintenance experience in the mining industry, including both mobile and fixed plant equipment.

  • Prior experience in a maintenance leadership or management role.

  • Proficiency with SAP Maintenance Module and CMMS systems.

  • Experience with Gearless Motor Drives, Cyclo-converters, and medium/high voltage VFDs.

  • Strong experience in Root Cause Failure Analysis.

  • Proven ability to lead diverse teams and work cross-functionally in matrixed environments.

  • Strong communication, presentation, and team collaboration skills.

  • Financial acumen with experience in cost control and budgeting.

  • Familiarity with MIMS, Microsoft Office Suite, and relevant maintenance tools.

  • U.S. Citizenship or Green Card required.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.

  • Project leadership experience with an electrical focus.

  • Experience with Six Sigma or TQM methodologies.

  • Track record of safety innovation and continuous improvement.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
