Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Principal Cloud Security Engineer to join our client's cybersecurity team as a subject matter expert in cloud security and Microsoft Purview technologies. In this role, you will be responsible for architecting, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-grade security controls across Azure and Microsoft 365 environments. You will serve as the technical leader for data protection initiatives and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure robust security posture while enabling business operations.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in cloud security architecture and a proven track record of implementing comprehensive data loss prevention and information protection strategies. Duties and Responsibilities

• Evaluate, recommend, and implement Azure security policies to protect against cyber-attacks and ensure compliance with company standards • Design and maintain Azure Conditional Access Policies including device compliance and risk-based sign-in controls • Configure and manage Azure AD (Entra ID) for identity protection, hybrid join scenarios, and secure cloud access • Architect and manage Microsoft Purview tools including Information Protection, DLP, and Data Security Posture Management • Configure and maintain sensitivity labels, trainable classifiers, and oversharing assessments for SharePoint and Exchange • Serve as Subject Matter Expert for all data protection initiatives and Microsoft Purview implementations • Provide expert support to Security Operations teams for cloud and Azure security-related events • Coordinate incident response activities and support high-priority security investigations • Develop and maintain cloud security playbooks for detecting and responding to cyber-attacks • Align cloud security controls with company policies and international compliance standards • Support audits and assessments for ISO 27001, NIST CSF, GDPR, and other regulatory requirements • Deliver technical training on secure cloud practices and Purview usage to various teams • Mentor junior engineers and serve as technical leader for cloud data protection initiatives

Required Experience/Skills

• Minimum 10 years of experience in cybersecurity with at least 5 years focused on cloud security and Microsoft Purview • Deep expertise in Azure security architecture and implementation • Advanced knowledge of Azure Conditional Access and Microsoft 365 Compliance Center • Comprehensive experience with Microsoft Purview suite of tools, emphasizing Information Protection and DLP • Proven track record implementing enterprise-grade DLP and Information Protection policies • Strong understanding of identity protection and hybrid cloud security scenarios • Experience with compliance frameworks including ISO 27001, NIST CSF, and GDPR • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities • Strong communication skills for training and mentoring responsibilities • Ability to work effectively in hybrid team environments

Nice-to-Haves

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, or related field • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, Microsoft Certified: Information Protection Administrator Associate, or Azure Security Engineer Associate • Experience with scripting languages including PowerShell and KQL for security automation • Familiarity with eDiscovery processes and tools • Previous experience in global enterprise environments • Background in security operations and incident response • Experience with security automation and orchestration tools

Education

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, or related field preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.
