Description

We're looking for a Transportation Planning/Traffic Engineer in Training (EIT) in Lexington, KY to support transportation planning studies and be involved in client engagement from day one.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work under the supervision of senior planners and engineers to assist in the development of transportation planning studies, corridor studies, and multimodal planning initiatives.
  • Support data collection, technical analysis, and the preparation of planning and traffic engineering documents and reports.
  • Assist with GIS mapping, travel demand modeling, and forecasting efforts.
  • Prepare presentation materials for public meetings, stakeholder outreach, and client briefings.
  • Coordinate with clients, MPOs, DOTs, local agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Help develop project scopes, schedules, and deliverables in support of planning efforts.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Experience with transportation planning tools and software (e.g., HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, TransCAD, or similar) is a plus.
  • Experience with ArcGIS for spatial analysis and mapping is also considered a plus.
  • EIT Certification is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation software (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Ability to thrive in multidisciplinary teams and meet project deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing for reports and public-facing documents.
