Seeking a Performance Engineer to support development of an internal application, which is part of a long-term project.
location: Tampa, Florida

salary: $54 - 55 per hour
work hours: 8am to 5pm

responsibilities:
Lead the design and execution of performance, load, stress, and endurance testing using tools such as JMeter and BlazeMeter.
Analyze system behavior under load and identify performance bottlenecks across microservices and distributed systems.
Leverage monitoring and observability tools like Datadog, Azure Application Insights, and Splunk to identify and triage performance issues proactively.
To detect anomalies and performance regressions, perform an in-depth analysis of system logs, application metrics, and cloud telemetry.
Conduct application profiling and fine-tuning using tools such as Datadog APM, Azure Monitor, or custom profilers.
Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to ensure scalability and performance best practices are followed from design through deployment.
Work in Agile teams to define performance KPIs and test exit criteria based on SLAs and SLOs.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to QA engineers in performance testing and monitoring practices.
Prepare and present clear reports and dashboards to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
qualifications:
8+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, with a strong focus on performance testing and system monitoring.
Hands-on expertise with performance testing tools such as Apache JMeter, BlazeMeter, or equivalent.
Strong proficiency with monitoring and observability platforms like Datadog, Azure Application Insights, and Splunk.
Solid experience in reading and interpreting system/application logs, tracing distributed services, and identifying real-time performance issues.
In-depth understanding of Azure cloud services and deployment strategies (App Services, AKS, Azure Functions, etc.).
Practical experience working with microservices architecture and understanding its impact on performance and scalability.
Strong analytical skills to interpret test data, metrics, and telemetry for root cause analysis.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills-able to clearly convey performance insights to both technical and business teams.
