Senior GIS Utility Network Consultant

Location: Remote, US, travel up to 50 75%
Engagement: Contract to Hire, full time
Duration: 12 month, with potential to convert


Job Description
UDC seeks a Senior GIS Consultant to lead Utility Network focused engagements across energy and utility clients. You will guide discovery, design, and delivery of ArcGIS based solutions, oversee requirements and road maps, mentor team members, and partner with sales on scoping and proposals. The role is client facing with significant travel as projects require.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead operational and technical delivery for utility consulting programs from initiation through closeout
  • Represent UDC with prospects and customers while building long term relationships
  • Facilitate workshops to capture business and technical requirements and best practices
  • Translate high level needs into clear functional requirements and non functional constraints
  • Plan and manage deliverables including use cases, requirements, implementation strategies, road maps, and reports
  • Coordinate project schedules, scope, risks, and communications between UDC and client teams
  • Mentor senior and entry level consultants, developers, and analysts across project workstreams
  • Support business development with estimates, proposals, and thought leadership contributions

Must-Have Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent utility and consulting experience
  • 7 or more years supporting utility consulting or large scale process and technology projects
  • Domain knowledge in electric, gas, or water utilities
  • Strong understanding of the Esri product suite with emphasis on configuring, deploying, and managing the Utility Network model
  • Experience with data model design and management for utility networks
  • Experience designing and deploying ArcGIS applications through ArcGIS Online or Portal
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication and customer relations skills
  • Proven integrity, self motivation, and ability to work independently and within a team
  • Ability to prioritize and shift work based on business goals
  • Managerial and supervision skills
  • Understanding of utility business processes including compliance, regulatory requirements, and field workflows
  • Ability to articulate business needs around specific utility network models and the value of representing networks in GIS

Nice-To-Have Skills

  • ArcGIS Enterprise administration, services publishing, and security configuration
  • ArcGIS Pro Utility Network configuration, editing workflows, version management, and network tracing
  • Migration experience from Geometric Network to Utility Network
  • Integration experience with OMS, ADMS, EAM, or CIS platforms and common data exchanges
  • Scripting or ETL skills with Python, ModelBuilder, or FME
  • Experience with Field Maps, Workforce, Experience Builder, and API based extensions
  • Cloud familiarity with Azure or AWS and DevOps practices
  • Consulting pre sales support including estimation and proposal development
  • Public speaking, blogging, or conference presentations in the utility GIS space
  • Professional credentials such as GISP or Esri technical certifications

Education
Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field required, GISP or Esri certifications preferred, or equivalent experience.
