Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled COBOL Developer to join our legacy systems team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mainframe development and maintenance, with a deep understanding of COBOL, JCL, DB2, and other related technologies. The role involves working on enhancements, support, and modernization initiatives for critical business applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS.
  • Analyze and resolve production issues related to mainframe applications.
  • Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and refine requirements.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation.
  • Participate in code reviews and quality assurance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external audit requirements.
  • Work with cross-functional teams for integration and testing.
  • Assist in modernization or migration efforts, if applicable.

Required Skills:

  • Strong hands-on experience with COBOL (COBOL/370, COBOL II).
  • Experience with JCL (Job Control Language).
  • Proficiency in DB2, VSAM, CICS.
  • Understanding of Mainframe file structures, batch processing, and transaction processing.
  • Ability to debug and optimize legacy code.
  • Familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Endevor, Changeman).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with mainframe modernization tools or migration to distributed/cloud platforms.
  • Knowledge of banking/financial/insurance domain applications.
  • Exposure to Agile methodologies and DevOps practices in a mainframe context.
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
