About this Position

The UNIX Systems Administrator will be responsible for deploying, maintaining, and monitoring AIX, Linux on Power and Linux on x86 systems in a team environment. Provides support, troubleshooting, and problem resolution for in-house and commercial applications. Knowledge of IBM WebSphere, networking concepts, SAN routing, storage systems and DNS is required.

Hybrid Role 1 Day a week in Duluth GA Office

Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Installing, updating, and remediating enterprise server operating systems and platforms such as AIX, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu, Linux on Power and Linux on x86 systems.
  • Monitor system performance and resource utilization, identifying and resolving issues to maintain high availability and efficiency.
  • Configure and maintain IBM WebSphere application servers.
  • Assist in the deployment of new applications and software.
  • Assist with the maintenance and configuration of database servers.
  • Maintain load balancing inputs and rules for enterprise systems.
  • Maintain and execute tests plans for failover of application servers, HTTP servers and load balancers to ensure resiliency.
  • Provide problem determination and resolution assistance to application developers.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for all administrative procedures, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
  • Collaborate with other IT team members and departments to support project initiatives and resolve technical challenges.
  • Participate in rotating on-call technical support
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices to continuously improve our systems and processes.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or combination of education, training, and demonstrated technical experience
  • A minimum of 4 years of Linux administration experience installing and supporting operating systems in a large enterprise environment
  • In-depth experience in Linux administration and troubleshooting. Must have experience with multiple Linux distributions
  • Experience with WebSphere administration
  • Knowledge of storage technologies such as SAN and NAS
  • Experience with server virtualization technologies such as VMware
  • Ability to work in a team environment, as well as individually with minimal supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • IBM Cognos BI experience is a plus
