Job Summary:

Supermicro Computer, Inc. is looking for a top tier Database Administrator in our headquarters located in San Jose, CA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Includes the following essential duties and responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned):
  • Provide 24X7 operational support for all Supermicro databases. Ensure database uptime, data integrity, performance and security.
  • Perform database administration tasks such as monitoring, alert response and incident resolution.
  • Implement high-availability databases and document backup, recovery and disaster recovery processes.
  • Regular review and assessment of database security, recommend improvements and document gaps.
  • Configure and maintain high-availability clusters including AlwaysOn , Log shipping , and work with IT teams to achieve uptime goals.
  • Collaborate with Application Teams and IT teams to make sure we follow industry standards and practices in database setup, configuration, and security management.
  • Produce SOP documentation on database administration standards and processes.
  • Analyze database performance, identify bottlenecks and recommend tuning strategies.
  • Perform and manage database upgrades, follow best practices and minimize downtime.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, with a minimum of 3 years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Proficiency in T-SQL stored procedures and complex queries and PowerShell scripts.
  • Hands-on experience with installation, configuration, patching, database upgrade/migration, and upgrades, including HA/DR implementation.
  • Ability to provide 24x7 support for critical systems.
  • Experience working with both on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Proficiency in SQL query tuning using Profiler, indexing, understanding optimizer and execution plans.
  • Preferred experience with MySQL, PostGreSQL.

  • Operating Systems/Databases:
    • Microsoft Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022.
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2022.
    • Knowledge of SSRS, SSIS, SSAS is advantageous.
  • Areas of Proficiencies:
    • Expertise in database security and permissions.
    • Proficient in T-SQL and PowerShell scripting.
    • Experience in SQL Server turning using Profiler, execution plans, and Query Store.
    • Proficient in backup and recovery methods, with solid experience in HA/DR solutions.
    • Understanding of High Availability technologies including Always-On AG, Clustering, Mirroring, Log Shipping, and Replication.
    • Familiarity with SQL monitoring tools and solutions.
  • Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills, experience in a large company environment, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team

Salary Range

$79,000 - $131,000

The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
