Sr Azure Storage Engineer-DC Metro Area

GDIT is looking for an experienced Sr Azure Storage Engineer to join our cloud infrastructure team as lead architect. In this role you will work hand in hand with our client to help this agency modernize and grow its cloud footprint. You will join an existing, high performing team managing three cloud environments, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and Azure.

In this role you will work with our team and agency leadership to help advocate for the Azure cloud, work to synthesize requirements from across the agency into technical architectures and collaborate with engineers who will be building these systems. You will be expected to provide technical leadership and experience managing multi-tenant cloud environments.

In this role, the candidate should have strong experience using the Azure well-architected framework, Azure services and technologies, infrastructure, Storage, compliance, and hands-on automation experience.

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As a Sr Azure Storage Engineer, the work you'll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of this agency. You will play a crucial role in overseeing and delivering a storage solution to support this agencies move to cloud initiative.
  • Work across the agency to develop new cloud solutions to meet the needs of application teams moving to the cloud, with a focus on migration to Azure Storage solutions.
  • Design and implement cloud native backup solutions supporting this agencies database, file storage, and VMs moving to the cloud
  • Work with agency stakeholders to develop solutions that meet the needs of their customers and build out the agencies cloud vision.
  • Work with a team of DevOps/SecOps Engineers to architect Azure solutions with the responsibility to ensure the customer maintains an overall cohesive integration with itself, partner systems, and solutions.
  • Develop a deep understanding of our current systems to identify and develop solutions which will help our team scale its cloud support.
  • Support and advise on application assessment, migration and modernization
  • Design cloud infrastructure, virtual private cloud, virtual private network, relational database services, and storage resources to meet customers' requirements.
  • Provide expertise in high availability, contingency planning, and automated provisioning.
  • Collaborate with enterprise architecture team and other stakeholders to determine enterprise tools, technologies and processes.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Bring your engineering expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. The Sr Azure Storage Architect must have:
  • U. S. Citizen and/or
  • Ability to secure a Public Trust clearance
  • 3+ years' Azure experience designing and implementing storage solutions, backup, and disaster recovery.
  • 3+ years' experience in large-scale storage management including troubleshooting, SAN management, and data replication
  • 10+ years total IT, development or architecture experience.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing cloud data migrations.
  • Experience implementing cloud designs using Infrastructure as Code methodology.
  • Experience leading cloud teams in a federal or state environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop cloud solutions and see projects through to successful implementation.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and demonstrated experience working with senior level stakeholders and development teams
  • Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing to convey cloud technologies and solutions to all levels of customer personnel

The likely salary range for this position is $140,250 - $189,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
