Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Field Technician with Fiber Splicing expertise to support data center, ISP, and OSP projects in Abilene, TX. The role involves installing and maintaining IT infrastructure, performing fiber/copper splicing and testing, and supporting day-to-day site operations in commercial and data center environments. Candidates must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

Install, terminate, and inventory IT hardware, racks, patch panels, and fiber enclosures.

Perform fiber/copper splicing, terminations, OTDR/power meter testing, and troubleshooting.

Read and interpret construction prints, splice matrices, and customer documentation.

Support lab/data center environments, ensuring site cleanliness, safety compliance, and proper tool handling.

Assist with shipping/receiving and maintaining inventory of cabling and materials.

Document test results, splicing records, and project updates accurately.

Qualifications

1+ years of field technician experience in telecom, OSP/ISP, or data center projects.

3+ years of experience in fiber splicing, terminations, and OTDR testing.

Strong understanding of cable color codes, fiber types, and structured cabling standards.

Ability to work independently in fast-paced environments.

Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Valid driver s license; ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Nice to Have

Experience with large-scale OSP/ISP deployments.

Familiarity with data center cabling standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI).

Certifications MUST HAVE:

Fiber Optics

OSHA10 -First aid
