**100% Remote**
We are seeking a skilled Backend Development Engineer to help drive the evolution of our backend systems. This role will focus on developing new features on an existing platform, modernizing legacy systems, and contributing to the architecture and implementation of scalable, distributed solutions.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, build, and enhance backend services that power our core products.
Due to client requirement, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. For our w2 consultants, we offer a great benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, 401k with company matching, and life insurance.
Rate: $80 - $95 / hr. w2

Responsibilities:
- Develop new features and enhancements on an existing backend platform
- Contribute to the design and build-out of a modernized backend platform
- Improve performance, scalability, and reliability of existing systems
- Implement robust backend solutions with a strong emphasis on clean architecture and maintainability
- Participate in architectural discussions and help define technical direction
- Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, and DevOps teams
- Support and evolve large-scale systems, including legacy monolithic applications
Experience Requirements: Backend Development
- Strong experience with Java
- Hands-on experience with Spring Boot
- Familiarity with common Java libraries and tooling (e.g., Project Lombok)
- Experience developing and maintaining backend services in production environments
- Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts, including the CAP Theorem
- Experience working with or understanding trade-offs of distributed caching solutions such as Redis clustering (multi-node mode)
- Experience with AWS-managed services, including:
- Amazon ElastiCache
- Amazon RDS
- Experience working with large, legacy monolithic systems
- Exposure to or hands-on experience with Service Mesh technologies or Service Connect
- Prior experience contributing to system modernization or platform re-architecture efforts
