Purpose: The NPI Lead team makes exceptional use of our associates' resourcefulness, creativity, and intelligence to provide project management and technical leadership to product & process development activities for commercialization of new contact lens or intraocular lens (IOL) products.
As a Principal New Product Introduction Lead, You will:
- Lead a project team of Process, Injection Molding and Optical Tooling Engineers to develop the process and product specifications that define new products.
- Find opportunities and unlock new ways to creatively solve business problems that impact processes, capabilities, and project teams.
- Coordinate product/process development efforts from initial feasibility through validation and commercialization.
- Collaborate with and influence the senior leadership team and colleagues within R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, Marketing, MAKE and Supply Chain to craft the strategies for developing new products.
- Apply project management skills to develop timelines which integrate process development and validation activities with design controls and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate key findings from product development and process engineering projects to leadership, project teams, peers, and various internal engineering forums via technical reports and presentations.
Qualifications
Required:
- A Bachelor's degree in an engineering or science field- specifically, Engineer / Material / Polymer / Chemistry.
- 10+ years of professional experience in R&D or Manufacturing, or 6+ years of experience with a Master's degree, or 4+ years of experience with a PhD.
- Experience in a regulated medical device or pharmaceutical industry.
- Project leadership experience in product or process development demonstrating the ability to advance a project through validation.
- Experience with statistical design and analysis of experiments.
- Understanding of polymer chemistry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Capable of influencing others without direct functional accountability.
- Candidates must be motivated, highly organized, and able to balance multiple tasks.
- Must be open to up to 25% travel
Preferred:
- Trained in design controls
- Trained in FPX project management
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, root-cause, and data analysis/mining skills with a strong attention to detail are helpful.
