Job Title : Design Engineer

Job Duties : Toyota Material Handling, Inc. seeks a Design Engineer in Columbus, IN to design, develop and release components for new forklift models and options. Develop a wide range of parts including welded steel assemblies, metal castings, plastics, rubbers, multi-parts assemblies, electrical components and more. Ensure drawing quality by considering design intent, materials, quality control characteristic, dimensions, tolerances, product requirements, and clarity. Validate designs by using FEA software. Specify main system parameters and design components to meet product performance and durability requirements. Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure manufacturability, cost, quality, and delivery of new components. Work with testing group to detail necessary tests and pass/fail criteria for prototype evaluation. Participate in recurring design reviews to uphold design quality and facilitate communication within the group. Develop 3D models, drawings, and study files using CATIA. Manage files in PDM software. Create and manage simultaneous engineering design documents like DFMEAs, parts list (BOM), and engineering change instructions. Create, manage, and execute development schedule for components in order to meet project deadlines. Telecommuting available up to two days per week. Annual salary: $130,416 to $ 147,055.

Minimum Requirements : Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field plus 5 progressive years of product design and development experience in: (1) Material handling, automotive, or heavy equipment industry, (2) Creating 2D drawings and 3D models and storing them in PDM software, (3) Setting design and testing requirements for a product, and (4) Developing engineering documentation like DFMEAs, part lists (BOM), and engineering change instructions.
