Job Title: ADABAS Data Migration Analyst
Location: Remote
3-6+months contract + high chances of extension up to 24 months
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled ADABAS Data Migration Analyst to support the analysis, planning, and execution of data migration initiatives from ADABAS/Natural mainframe systems to modern relational or cloud-based platforms. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in data profiling, mapping, transformation, and validation, along with a strong understanding of ADABAS data structures and migration methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse legacy ADABAS/Natural data models, file structures, and relationships.
- Document data mappings between source (ADABAS) and target (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.) systems.
- Collaborate with data engineers to define ETL logic for extraction, transformation, and loading.
- Perform data quality checks, profiling, and cleansing to ensure data accuracy.
- Validate migrated data to confirm completeness, consistency, and integrity.
- Support data migration testing, reconciliation, and performance tuning.
- Assist in cutover planning and execution during migration phases.
- Prepare reports and documentation on migration status, data discrepancies, and resolution steps.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and ensure alignment.
Technical Skills Required:
- Core Expertise: ADABAS, Natural, JCL, VSAM (basic understanding).
- Database Platforms: Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DB2.
- Data Migration Tools: CONNX, EntireX, Informatica, Talend, or custom ETL solutions.
- Scripting: SQL, Python, or Shell scripting for data validation and automation.
- Concepts: Data mapping, data modeling, data quality, reconciliation, and migration testing.
- Environment: Mainframe (z/OS) exposure preferred.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
- Collaborative mindset for working with technical and business teams.
- Detail-oriented and proactive in identifying and resolving data issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 8-12 years of experience in data migration, data analysis, or mainframe data projects.
- Experience with ADABAS to RDBMS migration is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of Agile and data governance principles is a plus.
