Job Role: ServiceNow Backend Developers
Location: Santa Clara, CA (Onsite)
Duration: Contract

ServiceNow Backend refers to the development and configuration work done server-side within the ServiceNow platform. It involves working with business rules, scripts, workflows, and integrations, as opposed to UI/UX or front-end configuration.

Core Responsibilities of a ServiceNow Backend Developer:

  1. Server-Side Scripting:
    • Business Rules
    • Script Includes
    • Scheduled Jobs
    • Workflow Scripts
    • Script Actions
    • Inbound Email Actions
  2. Data Modeling:
    • Table creation and extension
    • CMDB configuration
    • Relationships and dictionary updates
  3. Integration Development:
    • REST and SOAP APIs (both inbound and outbound)
    • MID Server configuration
    • Integration Hub / Flow Designer for automation
  4. Platform Logic & Automation:
    • Workflows & Flow Designer logic
    • Automated tasks, approvals, and SLA logic
    • Notifications and Events
  5. Security & Access Control:
    • ACLs (Access Control Lists)
    • Roles and permissions
    • Scripted security logic

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of JavaScript (used heavily in server-side scripting)
  • Proficiency with ServiceNow Glide API / GlideRecord
  • Experience working with ITSM, ITOM, HRSD, or CSM modules
  • Familiarity with Update Sets, Scoped Applications, and ServiceNow Store apps
  • Experience with Agile or SCRUM methodologies
