The Business Analyst is a key role responsible for the financial administration and processing of weekly freight payments for the Logistics department. This includes managing freight costs for Inbound and Outbound shipments through a dedicated freight payment vendor and internal database functions. The role requires heavy data analysis, auditing, financial reporting, and serving as the subject matter expert (SME) for payment issues within the department.

responsibilities:
Pull and analyze freight payment data as required through Access database or SQL queries.
Serve as the SME on department freight payment issues and provide ad hoc freight payment reporting.
Work to improve internal data processes as needed.
Run weekly freight payment files and generate weekly check requests for Inbound and Outbound freight bills for the Finance department.
Process the monthly Inbound Landed Cost Report and update the monthly LDC rate in the internal system.
Audit and report the expense of international and domestic accessorial costs on a weekly and monthly basis.
Advise the freight payment vendor of any discrepancies in weekly files for fixes.
Investigate all payment variances in vendor data, ensuring pending lines do not exceed established limits.
Assign GL accounts to specific transactions in the freight payment process.
Act as a backup to the Transportation Analyst for FTL (Full Truckload) truckload scheduling when needed.
The role requires coordinating with international teams and providing support for requests.
qualifications:
- Minimum of five years' experience in related logistics activities (freight rates, freight bill auditing, sea/air/land carrier related activities).
- Minimum of five years analysis experience preferably within the automotive industry in the area of traffic/logistics/parts warehouse/accounting.
- 4-5 years Operations - Logistics General experience.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
- Solve practical problems with limited standardization.
- Use of intermediate software packages (word processing, spreadsheets).
- Proficiency in intermediate computer operations, including programming in relational databases (SQL/Access).
