Job Summary: Under guidance and/or supervision, the responsibilities of the Biomedical Engineering Technician I include assisting or performing installation, calibration, inspection, preventative maintenance, and repair of basic patient care equipment such as patient monitoring, surgical devices, infusion devices, other basic diagnostic/therapeutic equipment and other related technical equipment. Essential Duties: - Promote a team dynamic through effective departmental communication and inclusive discussion. Customer interactions build team credibility and create the perception of a cohesive and efficient support structure.
- Utilizes basic familiarity of Medical Technology, and knowledge of Electronics/Electrical/Mechanical systems as well as IT Networking systems in order to provide support for basic medical devices such as patient monitoring, surgical devices, infusion devices, other basic diagnostic/therapeutic equipment and other related technical equipment.
- Maneuvers complex problems, exhibits methodical troubleshooting ability, and uses critical thinking skills to develop workable solutions.
- Adequately evaluates unscheduled support requests and responds with composure using the appropriate level of urgency. Participates in afterhours and on-call rotation as necessary.
- Performs inspection, preventative maintenance and electrical safety of medical technologies. Review outcome of preventive maintenance actions and make recommendations concerning changes to preventive maintenance schedules, procedures, or documentation.
- All work is performed and documented in accordance with the client's Imaging Medical Equipment Management Plan.
- Participates in new system or new functionality testing.
- Carries out work in a fiscally responsible manner and identifies cost reductions and financial opportunities.
- Participates in process improvement activities around technology utilization and quality.
- Provides consultation and guidance to customers on the use of medical equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills: Required Skills & Experience: - Familiarity with medical technology is required.
- Knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical, and electro-mechanical systems.
- Strong analytical skills and critical thinking ability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
Preferred Skills & Experience: - Three years of related experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment is preferred.
- Specialized training in medical technology service and support is preferred.
- Skills to repair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect basic patient care equipment such as patient monitoring, surgical devices, infusion devices, basic diagnostic/therapeutic equipment and other related technical equipment preferred.
Education: - Required Education: Associate s degree in Biomedical or Electrical Technology. OR Military Training in Biomedical or Electrical Technology. OR Two (2) years of Biomedical or Electrical Technology Experience.
- Required Certifications & Licensure: Valid WI driver's license is required.
