In this position...

We're seeking a highly skilled technical professional to provide key expertise to our outstanding automated manufacturing capabilities. You will utilize and leverage Vis Plant monitoring software to review cycle times of automation, as well as review and follow up on automation projects and installations.

Lead problem solving to assist plants and implementation teams in resolving tooling, equipment and conveyor performance issues and downtime.

What you'll do...
  • Use Vis Plant monitoring software to review cycle times of automation, review and follow-up on automation projects and installations
  • Troubleshoot PLC, robot, and other automation problems
  • Update program backups for automation
  • Program new installations of Body tooling and conveyor systems
  • Reprogram automation for engineering changes and improvements
  • Coordinate automation campaigns
  • Independently troubleshoot all body equipment and continuously evaluate equipment for improvement for quality and delivery
  • Support plant Controls Engineer responsibilities for new and existing equipment (from initial install until time when equipment becomes obsolete).
  • Support operations controls needs as required for major disruptions to the business.
  • Support operations when departmental controls engineers are out of the office.
  • Support operations when departmental controls engineers are not available to cover weekend production shifts.
  • Have the ability to work all shifts, rotating shifts and weekends, specifically the overnight shift in this role


You'll have...
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field

Even better, you may have...
  • 2 or more years of PLC logic experience
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including 8Ds, FMEAs, and DMAICs
  • ABB robot experience
  • Machining experience
  • RS Logics, Microsoft office
  • Indramat Servo
  • Familiarity with bar code scanning and function block logic
  • Siemens PLC
  • Experienced in laser burning
  • Strong understanding of conveyors system programming and body tooling techniques, in addition to networking understanding, DH+, Ethernet, remote IO
  • Blueprint reading, AutoCAD, interpret and modify electrical schematics experience
  • Simulation modeling exposure
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience
  • Lean Tools - 5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, and Value Stream Mapping
  • DMAIC and DMADV (DFSS) Project Methodology experience
  • TQM and Kaizen Methods
  • FMEA, PPAP, and DOEs experience
  • Visual Factory Management
