Junior/Mid-Level Mainframe Developer

Start date & Location-Jersey City, NJ. Must be local

Onsite-Hybrid 3 Days onsite

Responsibilities

  • Provides day to day, support, ad-hoc requests and maintenance of designated software and systems.
  • Handles complex application features and technical designs.
  • Assists in accomplishing of technical departmental goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for the analysis of project requirements, design and the development of technical specifications.
  • Develops, tests, debugs and implements code for existing and/or proposed business applications.
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks of varying complexities and work independently in a dynamic (changing) environment.
  • Able to lead a project and/or set of assignments, take ownership, and operate with minimum supervision and guidance.
  • Responsible for all procedural and code documentation on assigned projects.
  • May perform the role of Lead/Project Coordinator for projects with limited scope/duration.
  • Excellent understanding of the entire project life cycle.
  • Works with Business Users and other leads to transform business requirements into functional specifications / application implementation requirements.
  • Actively participates in the development process, Quality Assurance cycle, and implementation to ensure that standards have been followed.
  • Provides first time Implementation coverage & Support for applicable PSE & Production mainframe code changes.
  • May participate in Production Incident Management calls for supported Application.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Experience coding and debugging Mainframe Platforms.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of COBOL SQL coding, CICS, debugging and utilities.
  • JCL/PROC, VSAM, SYNCSORT and file-based interfaces.
  • CICS coding, performance/tuning/design concepts, debugging and utilities.
  • Strong Relational Database skills: DB2/ SQL and file-based interfaces.
  • Proficient with Xpediter, Intertest and other mainframe tools.
  • Strong knowledge of CA-Scheduler, and IBM utilities.
  • Knowledge of MQSeries coding in both the batch and CICS environments.
  • Knowledge of XML a plus.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Word, EXCEL, PowerPoint, VISIO.
