RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has an enterprise client seeking a Applied Scientist IV in Reading, MA.
Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Applied Scientist to develop and optimize robot motion control systems through advanced controller tuning, with expertise in position and torque control. The ideal candidate will establish robust testing frameworks, design automated validation routines, and implement standardized processes for controller performance evaluation. Must demonstrate strong programming skills to create automated test suites, analyze system responses, and document testing methodologies. Experience with real-time control systems, motion planning, and system identification required, along with the ability to troubleshoot complex control issues through data-driven approaches.
REQUIREMENTS:
* Master's degree or P.H.D in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Controls, or a related field
* Knowledge of feedback of control theory
* Experience working with developing controllers for complex robotics systems
* Proficiency with Matlab/Python for modeling/analysis
* Strong foundation in classical controls, linear systems, and applied dynamics
* Experience developing and tuning control algorithms on physical hardware
* Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or similar tools for modeling and analysis
* Hands-on experience with sensors, actuators, embedded control systems, or robotic platforms
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
