Key Responsibilities:


Backend Engineering:



  • Lead the design and development of robust APIs and backend services using Python and Django.
  • Architect scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions aligned with business needs.
  • Drive CI/CD pipeline development and automation using GitLab.
  • Manage containerized deployments with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
  • Mentor developers and contribute to code reviews and technical guidance.
  • Site Reliability Engineering:
  • Lead initiatives to improve platform reliability, observability, and performance.
  • Build and maintain monitoring and alerting systems for key performance indicators.
  • Troubleshoot complex system issues and lead root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Develop automated tools and services to support incident response and system health.
  • Maintain and evolve documentation, runbooks, and post-incident reviews.
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize the SDLC for reliability and scalability.

Typical Day in the Role



  • This engineer will work on the Member Premium Finance (MPF) team to work on payment related APIs. This candidate does not need to have experience with finance or business as we have that expertise on the team, this is a technical engineer role.


Candidate Requirements



  • Required: A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or business field (e.g., statistics, mathematics, engineering, computer science) and Requires 4 - 6 years of related experience. Preferred:
  • Expert-level proficiency in Python, Django, and API development.
  • Strong experience with GitHub or GitLab CI/CD, including pipeline configuration and automation.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
  • Deep understanding of Django ORM, middleware, signals, class-based views, and DRF.
  • Proven ability to lead technical projects and mentor engineering teams.
  • Experience with observability tools (e.g. Datadog, Dynatrace, etc.).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and experience with incident management and postmortems.
  • Familiarity with performance and stress testing practices & tooling (e.g. Grafana K6, Locust, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly across teams.
