We are working alongside our client, who are Top 200 ENR Listed Firm, who specialize in the Civil Engineering sectors, who are looking to hire a Lead Electrical Engineering Manager, to be based in out of Newport News, VA.

Our client provides leading & innovative design and planning solutions to large and complex civil infrastructure, water, transportation, and environmental infrastructure projects.

The Role & Responsibilities

This role is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding team and business who are heavily invested in across the Civil Engineering & Transportation sectors.


As the Lead Electrical Engineering Manager, you will undertake the full lifecycle of Electrical Engineering of major capital projects, predominately focussing on Municipal & Commercial Utility Systems on Water/Wastewater projects in the local region.


This opportunity will focus on the design, construction management and commissioning/start-up of the Electrical Engineering and the Instrumentation& Control systems for Water & Wastewater treatment projects, facilities and other related infrastructure.


Overseeing the successful implementation of leading technologies, you will oversee the overall coordination and collaboration of fellow Electrical Engineering personnel, to ensure that projects are delivered on time.


  • As the Lead Electrical Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the Electrical and Instrumentation & Control of projects, developing and review technical designs, specifications and equipment.
  • Undertake the technical evaluation of projects, to ensure the ongoing support of the planning and design of Electrical and I&C systems.
  • Ensure the preparation and review of technical reports, drawings, specifications and proposals as well as contract documentation.
  • Oversee and facilitate meetings including internal meetings, client meetings, subcontractor meetings ensuring the approval of plans.
  • Working closely with project and field staff, engaging with them to ensure their own development.
  • Undertake the preparation of construction administration/engineering service documentation, including change orders, RFI s, submittal reviews and other related contract documents.
  • Prepare and oversee the creation of engineering cost estimates.


Requirements\Qualifications

  • Educated with a Bachelor of Science in a related field.
  • P.E Certified.
  • Demonstrable experience of across the design/construction, commissioning and start-up of Electrical Power Systems, Instrumentation & Control Systems including low & medium voltage power distribution systems, PCL systems and SCADA systems.
  • Experience with lighting design, the preparation of Electrical and I&C drawings and specifications.
  • Proficient using SCADA systems (including PLC s/HMI software and Workstations).
  • Familiar with mechanical and electrical building codes.
  • Have the ability to program PLC s (including Allen-Bradley, ControlLogix PLC s and others).
  • Ability to use software applications including AutoCAD, Revit and MS Office.
