DNS Architect

Location: Remote (Alaskan time zone hours)

Duration: 6 months+

Job Description:

Our client is an internet service provider in need of a DNS Architect to redesign their DNS infrastructure. Candidates should have experience with Infoblox, BIND, Active Directory DNS, and Azure DNS.

Responsibilities:

-Design, develop, and maintain the organization's DNS architecture across on-premises and cloud environments, including Infoblox, BIND, Active Directory DNS, and Azure DNS.

-Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize DNS and IP Address Management (IPAM) systems to ensure high availability and reliability.

-Implement and manage DNS security measures, including DNSSEC, and ensure compliance with security standards.

-Automate DNS configuration and management workflows using scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and automation tools (e.g., Ansible), especially with Infoblox APIs.

-Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise on DNS-related projects, including upgrades, migrations, and integrations.

-Serve as a top-level escalation point for complex DNS issues, collaborating with other teams to resolve incidents.

-Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for the DNS infrastructure.

-Monitor DNS performance and implement proactive measures to ensure optimal service delivery.

-Collaborate with internal clients and stakeholders to identify new business requirements and design solutions that meet their needs.

-Stay up-to-date with emerging DNS technologies and best practices.

Qualifications:

- DNS architecture and administration.

- Infoblox DDI (DNS, DHCP, IPAM).

- BIND DNS server configuration and management.

- Active Directory DNS and its integration with DNS.

- Azure DNS, including private DNS zones and integration with Azure services.

- Scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Ansible).

- Networking concepts, including TCP/IP, routing, and firewalls.

- DNS security best practices and technologies (e.g., DNSSEC, response policy zones).

-Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

-Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to have:

-DHCP dynamic updates to DNS

-Microsoft AD replication and site topology
