Job Details

Role: AWS Database Migration Engineer

Location: Camden, NJ (Fully onsite)

Duration: 12 Months

Must Have:

  • Strong experience with schema and data migration tools like ora2pg, AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT), and AWS Database Migration Service (DMS)
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services such as RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, IAM, S3, EC2, Lambda etc.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle-specific features and (e.g., PL/SQL, packages, sequences, triggers) and expertise in finding their PostgreSQL equivalents.
  • Ability to collaborate with database developers/programmers and lead Oracle to PostgreSQL code refactoring efforts. Experience in providing alternative solutions for complex migration challenges
  • Proven track record of leading technical discussions and presenting migration strategies. Strong customer-facing skills with ability to communicate technical concepts to various stakeholders

Nice to have:

  • Proficient with schemas design, data modeling, data types, normalization/denormalization etc.
  • Knowledge of SQL writing and refactoring skills. Experience in both PL/SQL and PL/pgSQL. Query optimization and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Experience with NoSQL transformation (preferably DynamoDB)
  • Experience in implementing high availability, backup/restore strategies and solutions, monitoring and alerting, and security and audit compliance in the AWS database environment (Preferably for RDS for PostgreSQL or Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL)
  • Optimize PostgreSQL performance via indexing, partitioning, vacuuming, and query tuning
  • Experience with database administration and operations support for managed database services (Preferably Oracle/PostgreSQL)
  • Knowledge of writing/refactoring SQL, PL/SQL, PL/pgSQL
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, version control (Git), and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
