Position Title: Business Intelligence Developer
Location: West Sacramento, CA - Hybrid, 2-3 days onsite/week
Contract Period: Long term (Up to 24 months, with an option to extend additional months)
Purpose: State Client is seeking experienced Business Intelligence (BI) Developer with detailed knowledge and experience of functional and technical design and development in Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse (BI&DW) tools, and Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence (ML/AI) frameworks, standards, processes, and architectures to work within the BI&DW Project team of Technology Service Branch at client.
Technical:
1. At least 1 year of hands-on experience in using Generative AI to successfully deliver data analytics solutions.
2. At least 5 years of hands-on experience of designing and developing data analytics, and Business Intelligence dashboards with Microsoft (MS) Power BI.
3. At least 5 years of experience of creating Structural Query Language (SQL) queries, optimizing SQL query performance, and modifying SQL elements such as procedure, functions, and views with a solid understanding of database principles.
4. At least 3 years of experience of developing data solutions with Snowflake or Amazon Web Services (AWS) Redshift data warehouses.
Desirable Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or similar field of study. Client reserves the right to request a copy of the degree.
2. At least five years of experience with Agile methodologies and Software Development Life Cycle.
3. At least five years of experience with MS Power BI Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) to create queries, measures, and data models.
4. At least 3 years of experience in State agency or Financials or Investment portfolios or other regulated industry highly preferred.
5. Ability to use business knowledge and expertise to build analytical data models and reports that can serve business users.
6. The proposed project person will be able to adhere to the hybrid working model by working on-site 2-3 days per week at client Headquarters, West Sacramento, CA.
SOW Candidate Responsibilities:
The Candidate is expected to perform the following tasks including but not limited to:
Work with data architects, business analysts, Extract Transformation Load (ETL) developers, and business stakeholders to design, develop, and deliver high standard Business Intelligence (BI) solutions. This can include, but is not limited to, enterprise analytical reports, dashboards, data warehouse, data lake, data marts, and ETL processes.
Integrate Generative AI capabilities with BI&DW platform to automatically generate business insights and recommendations, reducing the need for manual data analysis and interpretation, leading to faster decision-making.
Leverage machine learning and artificial intelligence to provide predictive business insights to anticipate future trends and opportunities.
Understand user expectations and create functional design documents and solutions based on the business requirements. Drive requirements through cross functional collaborations and connect dots from different requirements sources.
Analyze product performance, identify key metrics, and build analytical reports and dashboards to meet business needs, implement the high priority initiatives, and instill discipline and accountability into the product development process.
Lead and conduct functional testing of the Business Intelligence solutions, thereby responsible for certification of product release before user acceptance. Encourage best practices and apply them in the team - responsible for functional product quality.
Build queries and large quantities of data by using Structural Query Language (SQL), or other data and statistical tools as well as reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker, etc.
Execute deep dives into available data sets to provide insight on product quality performance and ensure a good user experience in support reports and dashboards.
Perform ongoing monitoring and optimization of reports and analytical solutions.
Review and provide any potential revisions to deliverables/documents to include conceptual/logical/physical data models, data dictionaries, data ETL plans, etc.
Review and recommend any potential revisions to data related processes to include data integration, data conversion, data replication, data migration, etc.
Communicate timely to resolve technical issues and risks.
Develop user documentation and a variety of visual representation of data analysis and ensure consistency and accuracy of data and analysis provided.
Provide written weekly and/or monthly reports detailing various technical findings that may impact schedules, resources, and activities, etc.
