Our Challenge:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Developer with extensive experience in Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) and a solid understanding of DevOps practices. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable Java applications, leveraging Google Cloud Platform services, and integrating DevOps methodologies to ensure continuous delivery and robust system performance.

 

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Chicago, IL is $110K-$120K /year & benefits (see below).

 

The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level Java applications with high performance and scalability in mind.
  • Deploy microservices and cloud-native applications on Google Cloud Platform, utilizing services such as Compute Engine, App Engine, Cloud Functions, GKE, and Pub/Sub.
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate the build, test, and deployment processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, analyze system specifications, and deliver effective solutions.
  • Optimize application performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement robust monitoring and logging solutions.
  • Ensure code quality through code reviews, unit testing, and adherence to best practices.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and incorporate innovations into current systems.
  • Document system architecture, APIs, and operational procedures.
  • Mentor junior team members and foster a collaborative team environment.

 

Requirements:

  • Experience : 8+ years (The candidate should be able to communicate, lead and co-ordinate with the onshore and offshore teams)
  • Core Java Spring, Spring Boot, Multithreading
  • Knowledge on internals of hash map, hash collisions, etc
  • Good understanding on Kafka
  • Debugging memory leaks and troubleshoot performance issues in Java
  • Experience in CI / CD pipelines and Google Cloud Platform technologies
  • Exposure to Ansible, Jenkins Pipelines, Chef
  • This position needs more of a DevOps exposure
  • Core part of the project involves migration to Google Cloud Platform, hence need experience in Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Jenkins, XLR and some basic Java programming skills.

 

Preferred, but not required:

  • Certifications such as Google Cloud Platform Professional Cloud Developer, Architect, or equivalent.
  • Experience with serverless computing and event-driven architectures.
  • Knowledge of other programming languages (Python, Node.js) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
